Forget about the stars' email addresses ...
|
|
... you can not have them, and here's why: The moment such an
address becomes known, hundereds of people would send mail. I guess a
major star would easily receive 100 mails a day, if not even more!
And that is a lot of mail. Who would want to read this much mail every
day ... never mind answering it! So where's the point? That mailbox would
be completely useless for the fans as well as for the star - just some
kind of a trashcan! Harsh words, maybe, but still very much a fact also
...
... but the stars weren´t listening to those facts and instead
started spreading their email addresses ... and learnd the lesson the
hard way! Only minutes after their addresses become known, their maildrops
are filled to the max and that's the end of the story. The providers have
to close down the maildrops and the accounts to make sure their servers
do not go down due to the immens traffic.
We still do collect star email addresses in the data, tough, cause there
are numerous fans who don't believe what we just said an insist in trying
to mail their favorite stars anyway.

And that is what a letter looks like, that has travelled all the
way down to Mumbai/Bombay. After having been redirected from Andheri
West to East, from Bandra to Juhu, it finally has been send back.
Look at the Recommandé stamp - that one tells the
post office people, that you want the letter back in case it cannot
be delivered.

How to get in contact ...
... with your favorite star by paper mail:
If it's Juhi, you can forget about it
totally. She sticks to the "trashcan policy" even when it comes to
regular paper fanmail - she said so! (At least she said something
to that effect).
However, it's worth trying anyway, don't you think? So here are some
hints you might find useful.
- In THE FILES you find quite a few addresses of Bollywood stars.
Very often those are the star's home addresses and not those of their
agencies. This fanmail business isn't as organized as it is in Hollywood,
so expect the mail to be delivered to the stars directly. Though, most
probably a secretary will open it and read it as well.
- If you want to know for certain, that your mail has reached the
recipient, you'll have to send it as Registered Mail
(Recommandé). It'll be
returned to you, in case the Bombay post office folks weren't able
to deliver it. By the by, sending letters to India is not expensive!
- Should you want some answer, be it a signed photograph or something,
you might consider to add a return-envelope with your home address
written on it to your letter. Also adding a stamp wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Apparently the problem there is, that it has to be an Indian stamp, to
be accepted by the Bombay post office.
And please keep in mind, that this "100 mails a day" scheme applies to
papermail as well. So keep it short! And keep your fingers crossed
for good luck!
